The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has forecast widespread rain, heavy showers and thunderstorms across the Maldives over the next two days, urging the public to take necessary precautions.

In its Weather News Brief issued at 2 PM today, MET said the southwest monsoon is likely to strengthen over the Maldives on August 11 and 12, with enhanced convective activity expected across the country.
