The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has opened opportunities for loan schemes to pursue higher education.

This initiative aims to facilitate educational advancement for citizens aspiring to attain diplomas, degrees, and even PhDs. Under the student loan scheme, a total of 500 opportunities have been made available.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply before the deadline on April 25th, 2024, at 13:30 hrs.

Dr Maryam Mariya, the Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development, highlighted that this year’s scheme encompasses a wide spectrum of study fields, catering to diverse educational aspirations from construction to aviation to agriculture.

Emphasising inclusivity, the Minister stated that the loan scheme extends to students with disabilities, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational pursuits. Moreover, provisions have been made to cover various expenses associated with the academic journey, including additional costs for students enrolled in tuition-free degree programmes.

Of the 500 opportunities, 370 slots have been earmarked for new entrants, while the remaining 130 are designated for ongoing students. Furthermore, the programme offers top-up loans to assist students facing unforeseen challenges that impede their progress.

The Higher Education Ministry underscores the government’s commitment to promoting accessible and inclusive education, aligning with the broader national agenda of socioeconomic development.
