President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said housing allocations under his administration will be carried out fairly and impartially, without political favour or outside influence.

Speaking during the Nation Chat television programme aired on Public Service Media on Thursday night, the President said applications submitted under the government’s social housing scheme are currently under review and assured the public that no applicant would receive preferential treatment.

Describing housing as a fundamental need, President Muizzu said all government social housing apartments and land plots would be allocated equitably. He also expressed confidence in the officials responsible for managing the allocation process.

The President also addressed ongoing infrastructure projects in Malé, describing the condition of the city’s roads as one of the municipality’s most pressing challenges.

He said work is underway to improve road quality, reduce flooding, and address long-standing parking shortages. However, he stressed that lasting solutions would require cooperation from the public alongside government efforts.

President Muizzu also announced plans to introduce a new programme that will allow him to engage directly with residents in individual constituencies. He said the initiative is intended to strengthen communication between the administration and the public through regular discussions with citizens.
