Applicants for land plots and flats under the Government’s Housing for All policy will be notified through the Boahiyaavehikan portal if discrepancies are identified during the verification of their applications, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has announced.

The Ministry said it is currently verifying applications submitted for housing in the Greater Malé region against information provided by applicants and data obtained from government agencies and councils.

If a discrepancy is identified, the applicant will receive a notification through the Boahiyaavehikan portal. Applicants who believe the information flagged by the Ministry is incorrect will have seven calendar days to submit an explanation and supporting documents.

Updates to applications will also be communicated by SMS to the mobile number provided by the applicant when submitting the form.

The Ministry warned that applications will be considered incomplete or ineligible if applicants fail to respond within the specified period.

Responses to issues flagged during the verification process must be submitted only through the Boahiyaavehikan portal. The Ministry said responses sent by email, letter or other means will not be accepted.

More Than 50,000 Applications Submitted

The Ministry began verifying Housing for All applications in late June following the June 15 deadline.

More than 50,000 applications were submitted for land plots and flats, with over 35,900 applications for flats and more than 22,000 for land plots.

The Government has previously said physical work on several housing projects is expected to begin this year, with completion targeted within around two years. Authorities have also said arrangements are being made to allow beneficiaries to move into the units soon after completion.
