The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced a free community diabetes screening programme aimed at promoting early detection and reducing the risk of complications associated with the disease.

Organised by the hospital’s National Diabetes Centre, the screening event will be held on Friday, 10 July, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Social Centre.

In a social media post, IGMH noted that diabetes often develops silently and that early diagnosis can help prevent serious complications. The hospital encouraged members of the public to take part in the screening to better understand their risk and take proactive steps to protect their health.

A range of health services will be provided free of charge during the event, including measurements of height, weight and body mass index (BMI), blood pressure checks and blood sugar testing.

Participants will also receive information on healthy nutrition and have the opportunity to seek medical advice and guidance on diabetes prevention and management from healthcare professionals.

In addition to the health screening services, IGMH said various entertainment activities will be organised for children attending the event.
