Haematology is a specialised field focused on blood, blood-forming organs and related diseases. The field includes diagnosing and treating conditions such as iron deficiency and blood cancer.

The appointment marks the first time a Maldivian doctor trained in haematology has joined medical services in the country.

The development follows the recent start of consultations by the Maldives’ first doctor specialising in breast cancer surgery, Dr Altaf Adnan Ismail, at Hulhumalé Hospital.
