Maldives Immigration has doubled the number of passports issued in four provinces after establishing regional offices.

This decision is per the vision of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and has been implemented under the leadership of Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shaman Waheed.

The newly established regional offices are in Addu City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Fuvahmulah City, and Thinadhoo City. The primary objective is to enhance the efficiency of passport issuance in these regions. Previously, passports were sent to Addu City twice a week; however, this frequency has now been increased to four days a week.

Similarly, passports for Kulhudhuffushi, Fuvahmulah, and Thinadhoo cities, which were previously dispatched once a week, will now be sent twice a week. Maldives Immigration underscores the aim of providing citizens with a more efficient and comprehensive passport service.

This decision is part of an overarching strategy to extend passport services to additional atolls in the future. Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shaman Waheed, who recently assumed the role, oversees these operational changes. The resumption of the airport’s e-gate service is also highlighted as a part of the ongoing efforts to improve immigration services.
