Immigration Launches Operation to Address Undocumented Migrants Issue in Maldives

The Maldives Immigration has announced an operation aimed at resolving the issue of undocumented migrants residing in Maldives.

In an official statement released today, Immigration highlighted its decision to initiate operations focused on verifying the identity and visas of undocumented migrants, with the objective of ensuring compliance with existing regulations.

The statement underlined, “During this special operation, we will consistently apply immigration laws to individuals working illegally in Maldives and those residing in Maldives without valid permits.”

The stated goal of this latest move is to curtail the prevalence of undocumented migrants in Maldives and facilitate the adherence of foreign residents to established regulations, according to the immigration agency.

According to last year’s census data, the total number of foreigners living in Maldives stands at 97,164, with 32,470 residing in the city.
