Authorities have requested that Laura appear in person at the Risk Intelligence Section of Maldives Immigration, located in the M. Star Cloud building, between 8:00am and 2:00pm within the next five days. The public has also been urged to provide any information regarding her whereabouts by contacting 9199017 or emailing risk@immigration.gov.mv.
The announcement comes as Maldives Immigration intensifies efforts to tackle illegal migration across the country. In recent weeks, the authority has carried out multiple operations to identify and detain individuals residing unlawfully in the Maldives.
The government has previously stated that migrants found to be living illegally will have the opportunity either to regularise their status or to return to their country of origin.
Migrants account for approximately 25 per cent of the Maldivian population, and the current administration has pledged to address the issue of illegal migration within the next three years.
