Internal Audit Association Finalises Preparations for Expanded 360 Degree Summit

The Internal Audit Association has commenced final preparations for its second annual Internal Audit 360 Degree Summit, scheduled to take place on 6 September.

Organisers are holding this year’s event under the theme “Future-Ready Internal Audit”. The association states that the summit offers a vital opportunity to collaborate on building a robust and resilient internal audit framework.

Speaking on Public Service Media’s Raajje Miadhu television programme, Mohamed Shifazu Moosa, Co-founder and Executive Committee member of the association, emphasised that the summit extends beyond internal auditors. He stated that the event encompasses all related sectors, drawing in representatives from general management, the financial sector, committees, and governing boards. Shifazu noted that this comprehensive, all-round scope inspired the “360 Degree” title.

Shifazu highlighted the success of the inaugural summit, noting that organisers originally targeted 60 seats, which filled rapidly. The team subsequently expanded the venue capacity to accommodate additional participants. Following last year’s strong turnout, organisers expect around 100 delegates to attend this year’s expanded event.

Addressing the summit’s theme, Hassan Akram Mohamed, Founding Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the association, explained that developing a future-ready internal audit system involves more than integrating technology and artificial intelligence. He stressed that professionals must also cultivate broader skills, including leadership, effective communication, and relationship management.

The association opened registration two months ahead of the event. To date, a wide array of institutions—including government ministries, state bodies, private companies, and non-governmental organisations—have registered. While seat availability is reaching capacity, prospective participants can still apply via the association’s official website.

The Internal Audit Association added that individuals unable to attend this year’s summit can still apply for general association membership through the website at any time. The organisation emphasised that expanding its membership base provides additional momentum towards elevating standard practices across the industry.
