Islamic Ministry Cancels Fish Pond Project Amid Public Concerns

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced the cancellation of its plans to build a fish pond around the minaret at the Islamic Centre following significant public backlash.
After the ministry’s initial announcement, social media users expressed their concerns regarding the feasibility of the project, particularly in light of the current economic difficulties facing the country.
This morning, the ministry retracted its previous call for small and medium enterprises interested in undertaking the construction of the fish pond.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed stated that the decision was made in response to the prevailing economic situation.
Dr Shaheem also noted that a fish pond has existed around the minaret for some time, emphasising that the ministry’s original announcement aimed to seek contractors for the renovation of the existing structure rather than the creation of a new one.
