JICA Initiates Survey to Enhance Male’s Storm Drainage and Seawall

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has recently signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to commence a comprehensive survey aimed at enhancing the surrounding sea wall and upgrading the storm drainage system in Male’ City.

This agreement, signed by Shana Farooq, the Director General of the Planning Ministry, and Tsukikoi Megumi, the Preparatory Survey Team Leader at JICA, signifies a collaborative effort to bolster disaster resilience in the capital.
The joint project, aptly named “Disaster Resilience Enhancement in Male’,” will be carried out with the support of grant assistance from JICA. The survey’s primary objective is to gather essential data necessary for the improvement of both the surrounding sea wall and the storm drainage system in Male’.
By conducting this survey, the authorities aim to identify key areas that require enhancements to ensure a higher level of protection against potential disasters.
