Kaashidhoo Imam Arrested Amid Drug Investigation

The Maldives Police Service yesterday arrested an Imam from Kaafu Kaashidhoo as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Ghanim Saleem, 37-year-old, registered to Shabunamge on the island, was taken into custody as part of the authorities’ efforts to tackle drug-related offences.

While the police have confirmed the arrest, they have not disclosed the quantity or type of drugs involved in the case. This is not the first time an Imam from Kaashidhoo has been implicated in a drug-related matter, raising concerns within the community.
