Keyodhoo Man Remanded Over Suspected Large-Scale Drug Trafficking

Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with an alleged large-scale drug trafficking operation in Vaavu Atoll, Keyodhoo, seizing more than 265 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics.

The suspect has been identified as Ahmed Fazil, 31, of Dheyliyaage, Keyodhoo.

Police arrested him on August 20 under a Criminal Court warrant during a joint operation involving the Drug Enforcement Department, Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Vaavu Atoll Police.

Officers searched two houses in Keyodhoo that police suspect were being used to sell and trade drugs. The operation resulted in the seizure of 265.01 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics.

The Criminal Court remanded Fazil in custody for 10 days following his arrest.

Police are continuing their investigation.
