At the event, Minister Maryam highlighted the growing importance of securing the country’s food supply.
She stressed that food security is not solely an economic concern but is also tied to preserving the Maldives’ identity and culture. “Food freedom is not solely an economic issue. It’s also about maintaining our individuality, our food culture, and guaranteeing a safe and healthy future for generations to come,” she stated.
Minister Maryam added that food security holds deep significance for the nation, noting that Maldivians have a long-standing tradition of self-reliance. She pointed to the agricultural lands, marine resources, and various fruits and vegetables cultivated across the islands as enduring proof of this legacy.
