The Kulhudhuffushi City Council has officially inaugurated its first nine-member Tourism Advisory Board, aiming to advance local tourism development in the region.
The Council established the board as part of a broader strategy to enhance community engagement in local projects and to seek expert guidance in shaping tourism-related policy decisions. The Tourism Advisory Board is the first of several volunteer advisory boards that the Council plans to establish to ensure inclusive and informed decision-making.
This move aligns with the Council’s 2025 work plan, which prioritises initiatives to attract local tourism to Kulhudhuffushi. With the anticipated opening of Hanimaadhoo International Airport, the Council aims to ensure the island is prepared to welcome tourists and enable locals to benefit from the economic opportunities the industry offers.
