Literacy Forms the Core of an Empowered Society, Says Malé Mayor Adam Azim

Mayor of Male’, Adam Azim, has stated that literacy serves as the main foundation for opening economic opportunities, upholding human dignity, and building an empowered community.

According to a press update published by the Malé City Council, Mayor Azim shared his perspective in a public post on X to mark International Literacy Day, observed annually on 8 September.

In his message, the mayor emphasized that literacy extends beyond basic reading and writing skills. He described literacy as a fundamental stepping stone that unlocks potential across various sectors of daily life, safeguards human dignity, and fosters a comprehensive, resilient population.
