A series of markets titled “Maaran’ga Market” has been launched in Maafushi as part of efforts to promote small and medium enterprises in the Maldives.
The initiative is organised by the Business Center Corporation in collaboration with the Maafushi Council and Maafushi Local Authority Company Limited.
The market is held daily from 16:00 to 23:00 during the event period and is scheduled to take place once a month from April. It is designed to provide a platform for small and medium enterprises to promote and sell their products.
A total of 12 kiosks have been allocated, including four for businesses based in Maafushi and eight for businesses from Malé. Products available at the market include food items, pastries and handicrafts.
Deputy Managing Director of the Business Center Corporation, Samih Adam, stated that the initiative is aimed at creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs, particularly start-ups, while increasing their exposure.
The initiative is being carried out with government support and in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development Maldives, with a focus on fostering a supportive environment for business growth.
Business owners participating in the market have welcomed the initiative, noting that it provides an opportunity to expand their reach and promote their products to a wider audience.
The Business Center Corporation highlighted that Maafushi, as a key hub for tourism and local enterprises, offers an ideal setting for such initiatives, which are expected to contribute to business growth and improved market access.
