Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) yesterday introduced the Harbour Portal, a new digital platform to streamline harbour operations, improve service efficiency, and strengthen coordination with vessel owners, operators, crews, and other stakeholders.

According to MACL, the Harbour Portal supports a transparent and user-friendly process for vessel registration and harbour management. The platform also enables the company to maintain organised records of vessels using the harbour and to improve overall operational coordination.

MACL stated that the portal will be introduced through a phased rollout to ensure a smooth transition for harbour users. The first phase focuses on vessel registration and awareness, with information sessions already held for vessel owners. The company stated that it is also engaging directly with vessel crews to guide them through the registration process.

The registration phase will continue until July, giving vessel owners and operators time to complete the required process. As stated by MACL, vessels using the harbour will be required to register and obtain a valid permit after this period. The company added that it will communicate further details on permit procedures and any applicable requirements through its official channels before implementation.

Once the system is fully implemented, registered vessels will need to hold a valid permit and submit harbour usage requests through the portal for approval before accessing harbour services.

MACL stated that the phased implementation is intended to provide harbour users with sufficient time, guidance, and support while enhancing coordination, transparency, and long-term service efficiency across harbour operations.
