Malaysia Airlines Resumes Flights to Maldives

Malaysia Airlines has resumed its scheduled flights to the Maldives, marking its first service to the destination since 2017.
A special event was held at Velana International Airport (VIA) to commemorate the occasion, attended by officials from the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the Ministry of Tourism, and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
The celebration included a ceremonial water salute to welcome the airline.
The inaugural flight brought 168 tourists to the Maldives, who were greeted at VIA with a traditional drum band and floral arrangements. Malaysia Airlines will now operate one daily flight from Kuala Lumpur to VIA.
The renewed service is expected to boost tourist arrivals from Malaysia, where there is a significant Maldivian community.
