Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Arrives in Maldives for State Visit

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in the Maldives early this morning for a state visit at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. 

Prime minister Anwar was received by President Muizzu upon his arrival at Velana International Airport (VIA).

An official welcome ceremony for the Malaysian prime minister is scheduled to be held today.

During the visit, PM Anwar and President Muizzu are expected to hold official talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Malaysia.

The two leaders will also witness the exchange of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and deliver press statements on the outcomes of their discussions.

The visit marks Anwar’s maiden trip to the Maldives since becoming Malaysia’s prime minister in November 2022.
