Maldives Ambassador Presents Credentials to King of Sweden

The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to Sweden, Aishath Shaan Shakir, has presented her Letters of Credence to Carl XVI Gustaf.
The ceremony took place on 16 April 2026 at the Royal Palace.
During the subsequent audience, Ambassador Shaan conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Mohamed Muizzu, as well as from the Government and people of the Maldives, to the King, Government and people of Sweden.
She also highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between the Maldives and Sweden and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest during her tenure.
As part of her visit to Stockholm, Ambassador Shaan met with senior officials from Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral forums.
The ambassador was accompanied by Saifulla Waleed, Second Secretary at the Maldives Embassy in Berlin.
In addition to her role in Sweden, Ambassador Shaan also serves as the Maldives Ambassador to Germany, as well as Non-Resident Ambassador to Norway and Finland.
