Maldives Condemns Proposals by Israeli Ministers to Forcibly Displace Palestinians from Gaza

The government of Maldives issued a statement strongly condemning recent remarks by Israeli officials advocating for the forced displacement of the Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip. 

Maldivian officials warned that plans to remove Palestinians from their native lands constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law. They emphasised that such inflammatory proposals undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts to bring stability to the region and pose a direct threat to broader Middle Eastern peace initiatives.

In its press statement, the Maldivian Government firmly rejected all proposals to forcibly relocate Palestinians, stating unequivocally that displacement, whether internal or beyond the borders of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, remains completely unacceptable under any justification.

“The Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and the Palestinian people have an inalienable right to remain on their land and to exercise their right to self-determination,” the statement read. 

The Maldives urged the global community with a direct call to the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action against forced displacement, enforce accountability for international law violations, and protect the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.

Reaffirming its long-standing diplomatic position, the Maldivian Government expressed unwavering solidarity with Palestine. It reiterated firm support for a two-state solution featuring an independent, sovereign Palestinian state framed around pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem established as its capital.
