The Maldives’ Hajj Mission, consisting of 10 members, has departed for Saudi Arabia ahead of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
The team is tasked with ensuring that all necessary arrangements are completed before Maldivian pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia. This includes reviewing preparations related to accommodation in Mecca, transportation, food services, healthcare and arrangements for Hajj rituals to ensure they meet the standards set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj.
Sheikh Imthithau Abbas has been appointed as the head of the pilgrims’ affairs office in Mecca for this year’s pilgrimage. The office operates under the annual Hajj Mission and is responsible for overseeing arrangements for Maldivian pilgrims during Hajj.
Dr Ilyas Hussain will serve as the lead Sheikh for Maldivian pilgrims during this year’s pilgrimage.
Aminath Shaziya is also part of the Hajj Mission and will be involved in reporting from Mecca. She has more than nine years of experience in journalism.
The first group of pilgrims from the Maldives is scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia on May 15.
