The Maldives Police Service has centralised all actions related to scam cases under its Anti-Scam Centre, established in June 2024, as part of its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan.

Under the new system, which came into effect yesterday, the Anti-Scam Centre will oversee all scam-related investigations and coordinate with other agencies. A dedicated call centre has also been introduced to streamline the reporting process.

When a case is reported, the centre will take immediate action by contacting financial institutions to obtain necessary information. To facilitate reporting, scam-related cases can now be reported through the National Emergency Number 911, the Anti-Scam Hotline 125 (Extension 2020), and via email at reportscam@police.gov.mv. Additionally, reports can still be lodged at police stations across the Maldives.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their cooperation in the efforts of this service and financial institutions to resolve scam issues in the past few days, and please report such cases to the Anti-Scam Center as soon as possible to prevent scams in the future,” Maldives Police stated in their statement.
