On July 12, the Maldives and the United States conducted the third meeting of the US-Maldives TIFA Council. The meeting was led by Minister Saeed and Assistant United States Trade Representative Brendan Lynch. During this session, the Maldives sought US support for key developmental areas, committing to enhanced cooperation on worker rights, digital trade, and environmental sustainability.

The discussions also emphasised support for digital content creators, artists, and entrepreneurs, aiming to enable them to leverage global commercial platforms and payment systems. Additionally, the Maldives highlighted investment opportunities in sectors such as finance, maritime, real estate, and tourism.

Minister Saeed’s visit to the US underscores the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties and fostering productive engagement under the TIFA framework.
