Malé City Council to Provide Free Venues for Island Councils to Meet Constituents in Malé 

The Malé City Council has unanimously approved a proposal to provide venues under its care free of charge to island councils seeking to hold meetings with their constituents residing in Malé.

The decision was made during the ninth ordinary meeting of the fifth term of the Malé City Council held today.

Presenting the proposal, which was seconded by Deputy Mayor Mikaeel Mohamed Riyaz, Mayor Adam Azim said island councils face difficulties securing suitable venues to meet with the large number of residents from their respective islands living in the Greater Malé region.

He said facilitating such meetings would strengthen relations between island councils and their constituents, while also improving communication with communities living away from their home islands.

The mayor also proposed providing refreshments for such meetings, saying the initiative could help establish Malé as a model city for hospitality.

The proposal was passed unanimously by all councillors present.
