The company said construction has also commenced on the development of a sea channel, with tie-rods and anchor blocks scheduled for installation by the end of this week. In addition, 270 metres of water supply lines have been installed as part of the ongoing works.

According to MTCC, the project aims to improve pedestrian access, ease traffic congestion, address long-standing flooding caused by drainage issues, and enhance accessibility for residents, cargo vehicles and vessels.

The construction covers a 250-metre section between the Local Market area and the North Harbour and forms part of a wider 1,088-metre stretch running from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour. Phase one of the project, covering 140 metres, has been completed, while work on phase two is currently ongoing.
