Malé Taxi Line to Begin Charging Fares After Initial Free-of-Charge Period

Malé Taxi Line will begin collecting fares from passengers starting now, marking the end of its initial free-service period.

The development comes as the Government moves ahead with a fully state-owned taxi service operated by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Limited.

The new Malé Taxi fleet comprises of 150 electric vehicles aimed at improving efficiency, passenger comfort and suitability for urban conditions.

The fleet includes 70 compact “Lumen” models designed for short-distance travel, each accommodating up to three passengers with limited luggage. An additional 60 mid-sized S05 vehicles and 20 larger S07 models will be deployed for airport transfers and family travel, offering increased seating and cargo capacity.
