The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has completed the distribution of dates donated by Saudi Arabia in Malé.
Saudi Arabia donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives for Ramadan this year, with the ministry beginning distribution on 20 January 2025. The process was carried out daily, except on public holidays, and saw a large number of citizens collecting the dates, leading to the stock allocated for Malé being exhausted.

However, distribution to the islands is still ongoing, with island councils across the country having already received their share. Notably, this marks the first time in years that the distribution has taken place before the start of Ramadan.
