Man Arrested for Breaking Ballot Box in GDh. Vaadhoo Faces 60 Days in Police Custody

A man in GDh. Vaadhoo has been arrested for breaking a ballot box and is currently in police custody, where he will remain for 60 days of judicial custody.
Yesterday in GDh. Vaadhoo, a 35-year-old man originally set to cast his vote in the second round of the presidential election, was arrested for an incident where he threw the ballot box onto the floor, resulting in its breakage.
He has been arrested in connection with the case and placed in police custody for 60 days, as ordered by the local court.
The Election Commission has officially recognised the incident in GDh. Vaadhoo as a serious matter and is likely to take appropriate action in response. As their investigation into the case continues, the Election Commission has revealed that the man involved in the incident was upset due to an issue related to his ID card.
According to the Election Commission, the man broke open the ballot box when the polling was about to close. However, the Election Commission’s special committee investigated and successfully resolved the issue.
The Election Commission has not received any complaints that could alter the outcome of the elections.
