Man Arrested with Over Half a Kilo of Suspected Narcotics in Malé

A 37-year-old man has been arrested after police recovered 515.11 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics during a search of a residence in Maafannu, Malé.

Police, acting under a court order, searched the residence and arrested Abdulla Inaz of M. Sandy Hollow, Malé. The provisional weight of the substances recovered during the search was 515.11 grams.

The Maldives Police Service said the arrest was made during an operation conducted on August 13 by Drug Enforcement in collaboration with Counter Narcotics Intelligence, following information that drugs were being used, possessed and trafficked at the location.

Inaz was produced before a court for a remand hearing and was ordered to remain in custody for five days in connection with the case.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
