Man Detained in Hulhumalé Over Multiple Vehicle Break-ins

A 33-year-old man was detained in Hulhumalé yesterday on suspicion of breaking into and stealing from multiple vehicles parked on the roadside.
The suspect, identified as Abdul Rahman Hussain of Orchidmaage, L. Isdhoo, was apprehended by patrolling police officers near the POLCO flats. Officers had reportedly approached him after he attempted to flee on a motorcycle and appeared to be concealing an object.

During the search that followed, police discovered that several vehicles in the area had been left open. A number of stolen items were also recovered at the scene.
According to the police, there is evidence linking the suspect to break-ins involving nine cars and a pickup truck. Among the items retrieved were car and motorcycle keys, mobile phones, charging cables, and other possessions believed to have been taken from the vehicles.
Officers also observed the suspect discarding a cellophane wrapper, which is believed to contain drugs. The item was recovered in his presence.
