Man Found Dead After Going Missing at Sea Near Mahakanfushi

A man who was reported missing after venturing into the sea near Mahakanfushi for fishing has been found dead, according to local authorities.
The Maldives Police Service stated that the man had gone missing at around 9:50am on Tuesday while fishing in the waters off Mahakanfushi, an uninhabited island located near L. Gan.
Gan Council later identified the man as Abdul Samadh Mohamed, a resident of Thundi, Fesfaree. He had been fishing with a group of people using a cast net when he went missing.
A search effort was launched following the report of his disappearance. Gan Council confirmed that Samadh’s body was discovered during the search operation.
The incident comes at a time when much of the Maldives is experiencing rainy and unstable weather conditions. Similar incidents in the past have highlighted the risks associated with sea-related activities during adverse weather, including fishing, swimming, and travel.
