A man has been injured in a stabbing incident reported in Addu City, with police confirming that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.
In a message shared with the media, the Maldives Police Service stated that a case involving serious injuries was reported at 1:50pm on Tuesday by the S. Hulhudhoo Health Centre.
According to police, initial investigations indicate that the victim was injured during a fight linked to alleged drug dealings.
The victim has been identified as a 39-year-old Maldivian man. He is currently receiving treatment at Equatorial Hospital in Addu.
Police stated that a 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The case remains under investigation.
Violent incidents have been reported in the area on several occasions in recent months. Earlier this month, a Bangladeshi national was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Addu City on the night of 17 April.
