Man Remanded After Unlicensed Malé Motorcycle Crash Leaves Three Injured

A 21-year-old Maldivian man without a valid driving licence has been remanded in custody for 15 days following a two-motorcycle collision on Sosun Magu in Malé that left three people injured, police said.

Police said the accident was reported at around 1:12am on Monday. Three individuals, including two Maldivian men aged 21 and 22 and a 26-year-old Maldivian woman, sustained various injuries in the crash.

The 26-year-old woman is receiving treatment at ADK Hospital, while the two men are undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Police confirmed the 21-year-old suspect did not possess a valid driving licence and was arrested under a court warrant on Tuesday.

Following his arrest, he was brought before the court to determine his remand status, where the judge ordered him held in custody for 15 days.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the case.
