Man Remanded in Custody Pending Trial on Drug Charges

A 27-year-old man from Vaavu Atoll Felidhoo has been remanded in custody pending trial after being arrested last month on suspicion of drug-related offences.
Police identified the suspect as Sajidh Abdul-Muhaimin, who was arrested on June 24 during a joint operation carried out by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.
Following his arrest, Sajidh was brought before the court and initially remanded in custody for 30 days. After that remand period expired on Saturday, the court ordered that he remain in custody pending the outcome of his trial.
According to the police, officers recovered suspected narcotics with a provisional weight of 51.30 grams during a search of Sajidh’s residence.
Court records also show that Sajidh is facing a separate charge of possession of pornographic material at the Criminal Court, with a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
In addition, the prosecution has filed another drug-related case against him, according to court records.
