Man Rescued After Falling Into Tetrapods While Fishing Off Malé

A 50-year-old man was rescued after falling and becoming trapped among tetrapods while fishing near Usfasgandu on Malé’s southern coast on Friday.
Police said they received a report at approximately 17:16 that a person had become trapped among the rocks along the revetment near Malé Skate Park.
The man was rescued by personnel from the Maldives National Defence Force Fire and Rescue Service and taken to hospital for medical treatment. MNDF said that he was in good condition.
According to the MNDF, the man fell headfirst into an empty space beneath the revetment rocks and tetrapods. MNDF said its Fire and Rescue Service used safety equipment to lift and move several rocks in order to reach and rescue him.

MNDF further stated that they received information about the incident at approximately 17:24.
The circumstances that led to his fall remain unclear, and authorities are investigating the incident.
