Manhattan Grand Hotel Opens Bookings for Events Ahead of Hulhumalé Opening

The Manhattan Grand Hotel in Hulhumalé has opened bookings for conferences, exhibitions and other events ahead of its scheduled completion later this month.
The hotel, which is being developed and operated by World Business Private Limited, will feature 162 rooms along with facilities including a banquet hall, multipurpose hall, conference halls, swimming pool, gym, spa and four international food and beverage outlets.
Chief Operating Officer of Manhattan Grand Hotel Fahiyeas Pangath said the hotel aims to provide a venue capable of hosting large-scale conferences and exhibitions in the Maldives, with services tailored for government institutions, state-owned enterprises, corporations and international event organisers.
The hotel is expected to become a key city hotel connected to the new terminal at Velana International Airport. According to the company, 12 airlines are expected to sign agreements with the hotel upon its opening.
Under the agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), HDC will receive USD 11 million as the property value and MVR 14.4 million annually in rent. The state is estimated to receive approximately USD 2.5 million annually in tax revenue from the project.
As part of World Business Private Limited’s corporate social responsibility commitments, the company has also been tasked with permanently covering electricity, water and maintenance costs for the Youth Centre, Media Village, Medical College and Heritage College facilities established at a cost of USD 7 million.
