The Maumoon Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to foster cooperation in their respective fields.
The agreement was signed by the foundation’s chairman, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, and Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
Under the MoU, the Maumoon Foundation will plan and implement a project to renovate the Islamic Centre in Malé, ensuring the building’s long-term use. Both parties have agreed to collaborate in securing local and international support for the project.
The agreement also covers Maumoon’s participation in Islamic Ministry functions held at the Islamic Centre, including delivering speeches, and the display of books authored by the former president at the centre’s public library.
In addition, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs will provide support for various Islamic and social initiatives organised by the Maumoon Foundation and assist in establishing its digital archive and library.
