MDP Releases List of Eligible Voters for Parliamentary Primaries

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has recently disclosed the permanent list of eligible voters for its forthcoming parliamentary primary, shedding light on the democratic process within the party.
The published list encompasses the eligible voters for the 41 constituencies where the primary elections will be conducted. Notably, tickets have already been allocated for 45 constituencies, with some candidates securing the MDP ticket without undergoing a primary process. Among these are existing MDP members currently serving in Parliament, indicating a blend of continuity and potential new faces within the party’s parliamentary lineup.
The 45 candidates who have already secured MDP tickets represent various constituencies across the country.
With the parliamentary elections looming, attention now turns to the broader electoral landscape, with 93 constituencies set to elect members to Parliament. Scheduled for March 17, coinciding with the first week of Ramadan, these elections are poised to shape the political landscape of the Maldives in the months to come.
