In reference to the departure of former MDP President Mohamed Nasheed from the party, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conveyed that it is not imperative to focus on the inclusion of any specific individual within the party.
Solih has affirmed that the MDP’s continuity does not hinge on the presence of any single individual. This assertion has become increasingly evident in recent days.
Additionally, Solih disclosed that he had received a message from Nasheed, in which Nasheed expressed his readiness to rejoin the MDP.
Emphasising his commitment to act in the best interests of the MDP, Solih reiterated that acquiring 50 percent support from the National Assembly is not a prerequisite for membership in the party.
He further noted that if Nasheed desires to rejoin the MDP, this opportunity would extend to others as well.
