The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed two additional measles cases in the Greater Malé Area, bringing the total number of reported cases to 11.

HPA has urged the public to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as fever and rash appear. It has also advised individuals to self-isolate and remain in quarantine if tested for measles until results are confirmed.

In response to the situation, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) established a dedicated Fever–Rash Help Desk on 23 May. The facility is located at the ambulance portico near the main emergency entrance and operates daily from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Patients, including children and pregnant women, presenting with fever and a red rash are advised to report directly to the help desk, where staff will guide them on further care.

Outside operating hours, adults and pregnant women with fever and rash symptoms are advised to inform triage staff at the main emergency room, while children should proceed to the paediatric emergency room upon arrival.

Health authorities have also advised all patients with fever and rash symptoms to wear masks when seeking treatment in order to reduce the risk of transmission.
