Met Maldives Issues White Alert for North and Central Atolls

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert spanning from Haa Alifu Atoll to Vaavu Atoll. The alert will be in effect from 08:15 hrs to 14:00 hrs, on 5th July 2023.

According to the forecast, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected during this period. Residents and tourists in the affected areas should prepare for adverse weather conditions.
The meteorological service has also predicted strong winds blowing at a speed of 19 – 24 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph. In addition, rough seas are anticipated, prompting caution for those planning to engage in maritime activities.
The white alert serves as a warning to individuals and communities, urging them to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. It is advisable to stay updated with the latest weather reports and adhere to any instructions or advisories issued by local authorities.

Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
