The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast above-average rainfall and higher-than-normal temperatures across the country between June and September.
In an announcement shared on social media, the Met Office stated that many parts of the Maldives are expected to experience rainfall levels significantly above seasonal averages during the four-month period.
The forecast follows changing weather conditions observed across the country in recent days, with sunny and hot weather giving way to overcast skies and frequent rain showers in several areas.
In addition to increased rainfall, the Met Office stated that temperatures across all regions are expected to remain above normal throughout the period.
The agency has already begun issuing weather alerts for heavy rain and possible thunderstorms in some atolls as part of its short-term forecasts.
The Met Office has advised residents and tourists to remain cautious, monitor official weather updates, and take necessary precautions against possible flooding and travel disruptions during the coming months.
