MET Office Issues White Alert for Northern Maldives

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a white alert for Northern region of the Maldives, cautioning seafarers about rough seas.

The alert is in effect for the region spanning from Haa Alif to Alif Dhaalu, from 1615 to 2200 today. The MMS has indicated that strong winds of 19 – 24 mph with rough seas are expected during the time period.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4
