MET Office Issues White Alert from Lhaviyani Atoll to Faafu Atoll

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a white alert for the region spanning from Lhaviyani Atoll to Faafu Atoll.

This alert is in effect from 09:30 hours to 15:30 hours today. The forecast warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 35 mph with rough seas.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised by the MMS to remain vigilant and implement appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4
