MFDA Bans Import, Sale, and Use of Alergo Cetirizine

The MFDA has prohibited the import, sale and consumption of Alergo Oral Liquid 5mg/5ml Cetirizine after discovering the presence of diethylene glycol (DEG) and ethylene glycol (EG) in the product. 

These chemicals have been flagged by the WHO as potential contaminants in such medicines since October of the previous year.

Following overseas testing, the medicine has been found to contain the chemicals and thus, the MFDA’s response includes an immediate prohibition on the import, sale, and usage of the Alergo brand Cetirizine liquid.
