Migrant Worker Injured After Falling 25 Feet at Fuggiri Resort Site

A 25-year-old Indian migrant worker is preparing for medical evacuation to Malé after sustaining serious lower body injuries during a workplace accident on R. Fuggiri, an island currently undergoing resort construction.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed that the incident took place yesterday, when the worker lost his footing and plunged approximately 25 feet from a tower structure. He is currently receiving treatment at Ungoofaru Regional Hospital.

Following his immediate transfer to Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, subsequent diagnostic tests revealed injuries to his waist and lower back. Police stated that medical personnel confirmed late yesterday evening that the worker is being prepared for transfer to Malé for specialised treatment.

The Maldives Police Service continues to investigate the safety conditions and circumstances surrounding the incident.
