Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, Dr. Aishath Rameela, revealed today that she has been diagnosed with advanced cancer and that she will be travelling overseas for treatment.
The announcement was made through a Facebook post in which she expressed her intention to undergo hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), a treatment for certain abdominal cancers.
While the specific type of cancer was not disclosed, she sought well wishes and prayers from the public.
In response to the news, Ibrahim Khaleel, the Strategic Communications Minister at the President’s Office, conveyed President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s wishes for Minister Rameela’s speedy recovery.
He assured that the government is closely monitoring her condition, with the entire administration rallying behind her.
